Journey Maps
I focused on the user's thoughts & emotions throughout different flows & evaluated features that were in line with user goals.

Mid-Fidelity Wireframes
This was where I delved into the world of Figma for the first time, and where I really started fleshing out my layouts & exploring imagery. I utilized Gestalt Principles for more easily navigable screen layouts, as well as incorporating grids to aid in creating a clear, uniform design.
High-Fidelity Prototypes
At this point in the process my main goal was to bring my designs to life with a design system including color, typography, iconography, & scale to make the UI more visually appealing. I incorporated interactivity & buttons to guide users through the app with ease, and I reworked the bottom navigation bar to be more intuitive & clear.
Usability Testing
Moderated remote usability testing was performed with six individuals of varying experience levels, from tech-savvy to inexperienced participants in order to garner diverse feedback.
Testing Insights
Overall, this was a very successful and valuable usability test. The DocSpot app was well received and participants expressed a desire to have an app like it because of its multidisciplinary nature, and as a way to navigate the convoluted medical system in the US.
Although users appreciated the concept and features, issues regarding text size, UI design, and navigation were also highlighted. Implementing the suggested changes in future iterations will improve usability and user engagement.
Accessibility
Accessibility is essential to a project’s success and to guaranteeing that each user has an enjoyable, rewarding experience. As this is a health app, I wanted to focus on making it as accessible as possible for a broad range of people and disabilities.
I Adjusted the color contrast on the header and bottom navigation to meet WCAG AAA status.
I adapted the bottom navigation colors to have a higher contrast, as well as simplified the highlighted screen indicator for a softer look and feel.

Future Iterations
Expand Search Function
One of the most vital improvements that I would like to address is to expand the Provider search and to add multiple parameters that users can choose from to facilitate them in finding a doctor that best matches their specific needs. My hypothesis is that users will be more likely to go to the doctor and get the care that they need if the process of finding a provider is less stressful, more enjoyable, and customizable.
Define Progress Tracking
Another critical improvement is to update the Homepage and expand/further define the progress tracking feature. During testing, all of the users expressed a strong affinity for this feature. My hypothesis is that providing users with a fun, engaging way to keep track of their progress will encourage upward momentum, thus encouraging them to keep going, leading to improved health outcomes.
Potential Profile & Homepage Relocation
During usability testing there was consistent confusion regarding the overall navigation with regards to where the Profile & Homepage buttons were, namely, not on the bottom navigation. I had chosen them to be located in the top navigation to afford me more access to other key elements of the app in the bottom nav. I hypothesize that users will value having a clear direction towards the Homepage and the Profile in the bottom nav, as those are two of the most vital sections of the app.
Reflections
Health and wellness are very personal and should be easily accessible for everyone. Healthcare in the US is particularly convoluted, and my goal has always been to try and make things a little easier for people to navigate.
Designing DocSpot has highlighted the need for a comprehensive, holistic platform to support people on their wellness journeys.
I definitely learned a lot about the value of user research, feedback, and iterative design, especially when there’s a focus on it early on in the process. I feel like I’ve grown as a designer and my project has been greatly improved as a result of continually reevaluating my design decisions as I progress through the design process, and I look forward to continued growth!
